Rockford, IL, April 30, 2013 – Winnebago native Jen Lancaster, 34, dreamed of opening her own bath products store since she launched her business from inside her home two years ago. Now, Bath & Body Fusion, a Rockford City Market favorite, has officially opened inside of Stewart Square at 308 W. State in Rockford.

Lancaster welcomes the community to celebrate the 550 square-foot shop’s grand opening May 3, with extended hours and giveaways. The evening will include raffle drawings, discounts and more from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Grand opening sales pricing will be valid May 3 and 4. The store will be open Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and regular hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

“I’m a people person and coming in and getting to make new friends is rewarding,” she said. “It’s just such a stress-free environment. The biggest thing is the bright colors in here improve moods.”

bbfphotoThe shop opened in mid-March and is home to 23 of her homemade beauty products. Offerings range from bath bombs, foot and body scrubs, sprays and lotions to facial masks, toners, perfume and sea sponges, with affordable prices from $3.95 to $12.95. Gift baskets are available and every purchase comes wrapped in shabby chic packaging.

“We have 70 different scents and we custom blend,” Lancaster said. “They can create their own signature scent and we’ll keep it on file exclusively for them.”

Lancaster, a single mother, attended the University of Wisconsin – Lacrosse. She believes the entrepreneurial spirit she carries with her today kicked in when she was just eight doing floral design and cake decorating in 4-H. Still, it wasn’t until her brother and sister were involved in two separate car accidents that resulted in their traumatic brain injuries that she began seeking a way to deal with their life-changing illnesses. Nearly 10 years later, Lancaster feels like life has brought her to the exact place where she was meant to be.

“I needed a release from everything we’ve been through,” she said. “This gets our minds off of things. It was my way to escape, to find something to do for others.”
