Local Clothing Line ‘RKFD Collection’ Launches Website March 22nd, 2013

briggsEfrain Mayorga and Balta Ramirez are the inventors of the local clothing brand ‘RKFD’, and they have a mean sense for clothing and fashion. The two entrepreneurs explained to me that RKFD doesn’t necessarily have to stand for Rockford; RKFD can mean anything, which is supported by their motto: “RKFD stands for everything“.

This is a brand heavily involved with the local arts scene, supporting the Rockford Art Deli (where I met them) and numerous other events that move through the city. Many spoken word artists, Bboys, poets, photographers, and videographers sport the RKFD line. The first time I saw an RKFD hat being worn was at the Bookworm Bakery & Cafe during a poetry slam, where Dj Maclin and Justin Saicheck both were banging the head gear.

I wanted to write this post to highlight an event for the RKFD Collection that takes place this Friday, March 22nd, 2013 at the Briggs Mansion from 8 PM to 11 PM. This is the release of the long-awaited website for the brand, and it creates another opportunity for community members to support a local business.

Local growth is important for Rockford. If there was any way to create commerce within our own city, then entrepreneurship is the way to go. I am proud to have a couple of guys like Efrain and Balta, as well as all of their supporters who helped them with their vision of the RKFD Collection in Rockford. Let’s get on out there on Friday at the Briggs Mansion and network with everyone who had a part in the development of this project.

Remember, beginning Friday you may purchase items from the RKFD brand at http://www.rkfdcollection.com.

All ages are welcome.
