December 12th, 2012 brings new meaning to Rockford this year as Rockford’s own Justin “The Last Wordbender” Saicheck and family friend Naqueesea Sharp host a welcoming community event to inspire spoken word & poetry, togetherness, good music, and all-around Christmas spirit!
The Hip Hop Congress of Rockford, a non-profit organization that helps bring communities together through words, art, and music, are sponsoring this event at the Rockford Public Library next Wednesday, December 12th from 5:30 PM to 8:30PM. Some of Rockford’s best spoken word artists will be performing as well as up and coming Rockford talent. DJ Vic Monsta will keep the tunes rollin’ while the Open Mic portion of the night will be from 5:30-6:30.
This event is a good cause for the Rockford community. This is an opportunity for all those who show up to give back to those who may not have the fortunate blessings the rest of us have. Bring a canned good, non-perishable food item, or a toy to benefit a local child or family. The event is FREE, so bringing food or a present for an unfortunate family means more than giving money itself; it gives the rest of us hope that no one will be forgotten.
